Clutter of Nylon Butterflies

By:

Butterflies are perfect for spring, and this Clutter of Nylon Butterflies would be great for adding some color and joy to your home.  These butterfly decorations are made with cheap nylon stockings and wire.  They are so fun to make that it's virtually impossible to make just one!  Use them as wedding favors, in a nursery, or even on as ornaments on your tree.

I was wondering how the last butterfly wing was done, that was very clever,I was really impressed.Cannot wait to get started.

Hi Patstubbs44--Thanks for the comment. I suggest reaching out to the designer or visiting her blog (The Paper Stash) to see how she creates the last butterfly wing. Hope that helps! --FaveCrafts Editor

I enjoyed watching the demonstration on nylon butterflies. It inspired me to attempt it,but I have not done so as yet. However I feel it could be taken a step further. I think they can can be made into magnets, barettes, picks to add to bouquettes or gift wrapping. Just a thought. Perhaps others have more suggestions.

thanks for the instruction. I wanted to learn this for a long time.

like the video, but would like written instructions can not have computer at my work area. Where can we get the written info. thanks

I found these websites that has how to make them: http://www.newsheer.com/ebook_butterfly.php (has photos) http://tinaspatilscreations.blogspot.com/2011/02/instructions-on-making-nylon-stocking.html (with photos) I also found How to make Nylon Flowers http://craftionary.wordpress.com/learn-to-make-easy-diy-nylon-flowers-tutorials/ (a lot of different flowers) Hope this helps you out. I really don't like the videos so I try to find another place that has written instructions. Happy Crafting!

I thought this was a pretty good tutorial overall. No problem with the volume that someone else mentioned so it must be a computer thing. I wondered about dying the nylon stockings as well. Also would like to know the gauge of the wire. Did she hot glue the gems to the side where she attached the sets of wings together? I thought that would be the back of the butterfly. Cute idea that I will try soon.

OMG that is too cute! another craft to try, yay! With the lower half of the butterfly, I don't think I caught it, but to make the smaller pieces, I am assuming you used a smaller thing to wrap the wire around? When you got to the process of attaching top to bottom, it looked like you had the two smaller pieces in one stocking, but the ones in the background seem to have them apart. Did I not see it so, did you use two separate pieces or added them together?

It is hard to find colourful nylons, do you think the white ones could be dyed to make a certain colour, I am thinking RIT?

i loved watching this video..am going to have a go at making some of those ..thank you ..

The really enjoyed watching this a great page Thank you

very cute!!!

so pretty - great for spring wreath addition

loved the tutorial, could u tell me exactly what nylon you used? is it like a tube, or is it just nylon fabric, and if not tubed, can u use the nylon fabric? cant find it in any walmart in our area. marge

knee high stockings!

Love the butterflies, but the directions were hard to follow and the volume was low, even after I turned up my speakers.

I've purchased butterflies like these in the past and thought they couldn't be too hard to make, the store ones have the nylon twisted into the body I'd like to know how to do that. Also, she didn't say what gauge the wire is, what size holds up to the nylon being wrapped on it?

I can't see the directions - nothing comes up. I think I'd love them!

great idea! what gauge wire is she using?

I LIKED THIS VERY MUCH. I LOVE BUTTERFLIES. HOW CAN I GET THE INSTRUCTION?

WE WOULD LIKE TO GET THE INSTRUCTIONS SO WE CAN DO THEM WITH OUT THE COMPUTER. IT IS HARD TO TAKE THE COMPUTER TO MY CRAFT CLASS. CAN WE GET THE INSTRUCTIONS ??
