Clutter of Nylon Butterflies

Butterflies are perfect for spring, and this Clutter of Nylon Butterflies would be great for adding some color and joy to your home.  These butterfly decorations are made with cheap nylon stockings and wire.  They are so fun to make that it's virtually impossible to make just one!  Use them as wedding favors, in a nursery, or even on as ornaments on your tree.

I enjoyed watching the demonstration on nylon butterflies. It inspired me to attempt it,but I have not done so as yet. However I feel it could be taken a step further. I think they can can be made into magnets, barettes, picks to add to bouquettes or gift wrapping. Just a thought. Perhaps others have more suggestions.

thanks for the instruction. I wanted to learn this for a long time.

I thought this was a pretty good tutorial overall. No problem with the volume that someone else mentioned so it must be a computer thing. I wondered about dying the nylon stockings as well. Also would like to know the gauge of the wire. Did she hot glue the gems to the side where she attached the sets of wings together? I thought that would be the back of the butterfly. Cute idea that I will try soon.

OMG that is too cute! another craft to try, yay! With the lower half of the butterfly, I don't think I caught it, but to make the smaller pieces, I am assuming you used a smaller thing to wrap the wire around? When you got to the process of attaching top to bottom, it looked like you had the two smaller pieces in one stocking, but the ones in the background seem to have them apart. Did I not see it so, did you use two separate pieces or added them together?

It is hard to find colourful nylons, do you think the white ones could be dyed to make a certain colour, I am thinking RIT?
