Clown conventions, clown rentals, clown clubs—if you’re a professional clown, you know your work is never done. Unfortunately, clowns have to spend all of their time on their feet, resulting in great aches and pains. Orthopedic shoes and other “soft souls” are a great answer, and now you can decorate them to be as sparkly, colorful and fun as traditional clown shoes. Just add beads, tape and thread!

Clown Shoes

Materials:

  • Treasure Tape™ 8” x 10” sheets, cut into strips or shapes to mold over your shoe in desired areas
  • Diamond Beadlets®
  • Mrs. K’s Dimensional Threads: Blue, Green, Glow-in-the-dark, Yellows, Reds Assortments
  • Shoes
  • Buttons or cabochons if desired

Instructions:

  1. Make sure the surface of your shoes are clean.

  2. Lay strips of double-sided Treasure Tape on your shoes. Remove the red liner to expose the sticky part.

  3. Begin embellishing with any buttons, cabochons or other large embellishments.

  4. Then decorate with threads by laying the metallic braid in curls, swirls etc as desired.

  5. When thread decorating is complete, cover all remaining sticky areas with Diamond Beadlets.
