DIY Colored Pencils

Paint the town red (or whatever color you'd like!) with this easy colored pencils tutorial.  DIY Colored Pencils are easy to make and are a great way to use up leftover newspaper!  These make a great gift for kids and adults alike!

DIY Colored Pencils

Materials:

  • Old can
  • Paint brush
  • White School Glue
  • Straws
  • Crayon pieces
  • Newspaper
  • Scissors
  • Cupcake paper

 

Instructions:

  1. Clean can & bend edge for easier pouring

  2. Insert Crayon pieces & heat in pot of boiling water

  3. Pour small amount of melted crayon into cupcake paper & insert straws

  4. Fill straws with melted crayon mixture and let cool

  5. Mix 1 part white school glue & 1 part water in small dish

  6. Push crayons out of straws with small paint brush

  7. Cut half a sheet of newspaper to width of crayon and paint with Elmer's glue mixture

  8. Roll up crayon in newspaper

  9. Lay out on rack to dry for 48 hours

  10. Sharpen with pencil sharpener & Have Fun Coloring!
