Storage Tips for Quilters

  • Use a sturdy drying rack to display several quilts in progress.
  • Un-used pizza boxes, purchased from a supplier, make handy storage for quilters. They stack well and one folded box will hold an entire set of quilt blocks. Write details of the project on the outside on the box. For a project on the go, add thread, needles, scissors and other suppplies.
  • If you can't get your hands on pizza boxes, use photo boxes sold at craft stores with the handy labels at the front.
  • Use an empty Altoids tin to hold pins.
  • Several, small glass jars, such as baby food jars, work well for holding needles, pins, button and other items. Use the jar tops to create pin cushions.
  • When sewing small quilt pieces, line up the pieces in order on a corkboard on the wall behind your sewing machine.
