Shells and Ribbon Flower Vase

This shells and ribbon flower vase, by Roseanna Beck, is a fun and creative project that can also double as a gift for the home. The colorful flowers in the pattern are simple to make and a great way to add a dose of spring.

 

Shells and Ribbon Flower Vase

Materials:

  • 1 skein each Petal Pink, Paddy Green and White Red Heart 4-ply yarn
  • Small amounts of various 4-ply yarn colors (for around the vase)
  • 1 sheet 10 ½” x 13 ½”  7-mesh plastic canvas
  • 1 round 6” plastic canvas
  • 2 yds. pink silk ribbon ¾” wide
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Assorted Silk Flowers
  • 1 tin can approximately 4 ½” high x 3 ¼” diameter to fit inside of form
  • Graph

 

Instructions:

  1. Cut one 29 x 80 holes.

  2. Stitch as shown on graph.

  3. Stitch all unshaded areas with white continental stitches.
     
  4. Overcast top with green yarn.

  5. Cut rows off round plastic canvas to fit, leave unworked and with green whipstitch top to bottom.    
     
  6. Sew 1 pink bow on vase.
     
  7. Insert tin can in center and fill with flowers.
