Looked really easy but I was wondering how you get the edges of the stips of the plaid shirt to be as even as in the picture without raveling? What other materials could a person use that would be effective?

i have made these for my 3 basset hounds and they love them i made mine useing old t shirts i also tied two or 3 plates around the main boady( so it looked like it had arms and legs ) this is so they could all pull on something have lasted years great make and gental on the dogs mouth
