Dress your pooch in a doggy style dress with this free dog sewing pattern from Erika Lindquist! Use scraps from your fabric stash and sew up a quick little frock for a girly dog.

Doggy Style Dress

Materials:

  • Jean pocket from an old pair of jeans for the back
  • Leftover fabric for the skirt
  • Ribbon for the straps
  • Old shirt fabric for the "tube" part underneath

Doggy Style Dress

Instructions:

  1. Gather the skirt part with your sewing machine.

  2. Stitch it to the bottom of the denim pocket.

  3. Attach the tube underpart from one side of the pocket to the other.

  4. Sew on the ribbon however you'd like the straps to go.

BIG dogs: You can have this dress too. Just put the pocket on top of a tank and attach the skirt to the tank. I used stretchy fabric for the tube so it could be easily slipped on and fitted.

Pity for the haters who have time to waste being nasty. I loved this pattern as a basic starter for a wardrobe I have actually given and the recipients have posted on FB how cute they are....Thank you!

Geez, I've read all of these comments and it disappoints me in humans all together again. First of all it is a FREE pattern. It is something some people enjoy doing with their pets. All I have seen here is a bunch of hateful comments. Ladies, if you don't like it then by all means don't make it. Thank you for the idea whomever posted this ....

I's a free project that shows the LOVE for your pet. I've seen several projects and this one I LOVE. Please no haters.

Most embarrassing!!! WTHeck, dressing up a pooch. I am glad I own cats, they are not stupid enough to to found dead in clothing.

This is not a pattern for a doggy dress. I was expecting something that I could cut out and stitch together like the doggy clothes I see in the pet stores or even at Ross. This looks like scraps, and I would be embarrassed to take my sweet little dog out in that. But, then, we live in a world where letting it all hang out is okay and paying for jeans your mom wouldn't have picked up at a Goodwill is considered stylish. :( I'm just disappointed.

Cute.

Cute dress - probably a silly custom to "dress" dogs, but hey - who cares? If you're going to dress them up, it's great to have some sewing ideas!

well, you asked....I think it's ok to put a coat on a small dog if it's a breed with little or no hair - like a chi - that's just practical in cold weather, but dressing them like humans and using terms like "doggy style" - too silly. I'm just glad that no little old ladies got insulted by this , but if they're LOLs they probably wouldn't even pick up on the sexual inuendo....

Dude, the name is awesome. XD

it is cute

It is adorable, however, different sized jeans create different pockets, and what size dog is this for. How large a iece is the fabric for the skirt. I would like to make some of these to be sold for our fundraisers.

I have lots of back jean pockets. If you need some, just let me know.

Where is the pattern?

@patpage 0961735, The pattern instructions appear in full on this page, directly below the second image. I hope this helps! --editors of FaveCrafts
