Tea Party Ornament

Host a tea party with the girls and use these cute little ornaments as place settings or gift tags. Use your favorite scrapbook paper and check out the recipe for homemade mint tea. Materials

• 1 tea pot paper mache shape
• Wooden letter embellishments
• Scrapbooking paper
• Aleene’s® Original Tacky Glue
• Acrylic paint
• Brush
• Wax paper or newspaper to cover workspace

Instructions:

1. Paint the tea pot shape with one coat of paint. Thin paint out with water and paint a wash of color over the alphabet letters. The letters will still show thorough the thin coat of paint. Let paint dry.
    
2. Place scrapbooking paper face down on table. Lay ornament on paper. Trace around ornament shape with pencil. Cut along pencil line.
    
3. Place a smooth coat of glue on the front side of the ornament. Place precut paper over ornament and press lightly with fingers to smooth out paper. Trim paper if necessary.
    
4. Apply a small dab of glue to back of wooden letters and glue in place.

Candace’s Designer Tip: If you like, you can also embellish this ornament more by adding mosaics, beads, and other scrapbooking embellishments to outline the base and the top of the tea pot to give it a different look.

Fresh Mint Tea Recipe

Mint tea is perfect for hot summer afternoons. Great mints for making herbal teas are . . . peppermint, spearmint, apple mint, chocolate mint or orange mint. Yes! That’s right, mint comes in all sorts of intriguing flavors. Just boil 4 cups of water. Place fresh mint leaves into the boiled water and steep 5 – 10 minutes. Drain and serve hot or chill and serve over ice.
