How to Use Alcohol Ink on Tin Foil

Learn how to emboss tin foil and use alcohol inks in these craft videos from Marti Wills. Tutorials like this show you just how simple it is to learn a new technique that adds some sophistication to your crafting.

Alcohol Ink on Tin Foil

  • Alcohol Inks in 2-3 coordinating colors
  • Alcohol Ink Metallic Mixative (optional)
  • Blending Solution
  • Cardstock
  • Adhesive
  • Tin foil
  • Embossing folder & machine (optional)
  • Staz On Ink Pad (for the embossing)
  • Tim Holtz applicator tool and felt pads (not foam)

  1. Cover the cardstock with adhesive – xyron or double-sided sticky paper works best.
  2. Flatten out the tin foil and lay the cardstock adhesive side down.
  3. Tear off the excess around the edges.
  4. Make small puddles of alcohol ink on the felt applicator – not on top of each other but they can touch.
  5. Add 2 drops of metallic mixative (optional).
  6. Begin pouncing the applicator tool around the tin foil. Vary the tool by twisting different ways.
