Needlepoint stitches are fun, especially when the charts are easy to follow!  Enjoy making the Letter "L" Needlepoint Stitch with directions from Nuts About Needlepoint.

This large curvy L is from Tink’s Gallery 24 alphabet in L Alphabets Fun and Fabulous (available in the needlepoint bookstore).

The background is done in Needlepoint Stem Stitch. This stitch is a variation of Alternating Diagonal Gobelin, with every other row accented with a line of Backstitches down the middle. This stitch is not a place for subtlety in choosing the accent color. It must be a different value, color, or thread. Otherwise the line of Backstitches disappears. It should also be a thinner thread. In this case I use Silk & Ivory as the main thread and two strands of a dark hot pink in Burmilana for the accents.  While the accent is a row of Backstitches, they do not have to be over one thread. In this case most of them are over two threads and some are over three.
