Should have given the poor rating before the Comment. I love pincushions -- this looks nice.

What's Scotch? What other materials? This is useless to me. And, apparently ignored because others have said the same for years. Not helpful at all.

Hi I hope this will help you with the Scotch stitch. There are many variations. I will include links to them as well as the instructions for the Scotch stitch since it looks like they used the original. Working the Scotch Stitch To work the Scotch stitch, bring your needle up at hole 1, across one thread of the canvas and down at hole 2. Next, bring the needle up at hole 3, across 2 threads of the canvas, and down at hole 4. The next stitch is made over 3 threads in the canvas (5 and 6), then down to two and finally one stitch. The 10 steps worked create a square stitch that is perfect for large background areas and borders. The photos and instructions can be found here at this website: http://needlepoint.about.com/od/stitchdiagrams/ss/ScotchStitch.htm Scotch Stitch - Working the Scotch Stitch Reversed Mosaic Stitch - Working the Reversed Mosaic Stitch Mosaic Stitch - How to Work the Mosaic Stitch Reversed Scotch Stitch - Working the Reversed Scotch Stitch Brighton Stitch - How to Work the Brighton Stitch Framed Scotch Stitch - How to work the Framed Scotch Stitch I hope this helps you. I really hate it when you ask a question and get no reply. Best Faith

What stitch are you to use, what size canvas and what size mesh?
