This card art project is great for anyone of all ages. Kids can have fun making this card for Mother's day. They can color it and design it any way they want to. She'll love the handmade gesture.

Materials:

  • Large White Construction Paper (12” x 18”)
  • Black Marker
  • Oil Pastels, or crayons
  • Optional, posterboard to make letter templates

Steps:

  1. Take sheets of white construction paper (12" x 18") and cut them into long panels of 12" x 6". Fold the panels into thirds to make a card that measures 4" x 6". Arrange folds so that the card makes a “Z”. For young kids, it may help to cut block letters of “M” and “O” for the students to trace. To save time, consider leaving out the center of the “O”, and asked the children to just draw their own.

  2. The children are to center the letters in each panel, trace with a pencil, and then with a black marker. I like to challenge them to color in a different pattern in each letter, and then different colors for the background.
