Easy Painted Pots for Mom

Make mom a cute painted pot for Mother's day. This is an easy kids craft they will enjoy making. Follow the step by step instructions and have a great gift for mom.

Materials:

  • 4 inch peat pots ( I found mine at the local nursey)
  • White acrylic paint
  • Tempera paint
  • Paintbrush
  • 4 inch plastic pot
  • Flowers
  • Soil

Steps:

  1. These peat pots are great for crafting...you can paint them, decoupage them, collage them..you name it. You can also add a handle to make great little gift baskets.

  2. From a gardening point of view they can be challenging to keep moist so I plant the flowers in a plastic pot that slips inside. This also allows you to keep the painted pot as a keepsake.

  3. You need to prime your pot first with white acrylic paint or gesso. Cover the entire outside of the pot and allow to dry.

  4. Using tempera pots paint your pot any way you wish. With little ones I usually give them bright colors but no black or brown. They can be a little heavy handed with these colors.

  5. Using your 4 inch plastic pot as a liner add soil and plant your flowers.

  6. Here we also glued a ladybug to a popsicle stick for a fun and easy decoration.

  7. Give it a try and be sure to visit that artist woman for more art projects for kids.
