Greek Leather Lariat

Greek Leather Lariat

Materials:

  • 55” - 2mm leather cord
  • 1 - 10mm round Jadeite bead
  • 2 - 6mm round Jadeite beads
  • 2 - 10X6mm barrel Jadeite beads
  • 2 - 6X4mm barrel jadeite beads
  • 4 - 6X4mm carved barrel jadeite beads
  • 8 - 6mm Chinese character bone beads
  • 6 - large silver bead caps
  • 14 - flat silver bead caps
  • 4 - small silver bead caps
  • 6 - medium silver spacers
  • 2 - small silver spacers
  • 2 leather cord ends
  • 2 head pins
  • 2 eye pins
  • Beadstorm™ Chain Nose Pliers
  • Beadstorm™ Round Nose Pliers
  • Nipper tool

Steps:

  1. String one large silver bead cap, one 6mm Chinese bone bead, one medium silver spacer, one 10mm jadeite bead, 1 silver spacer, 1 Chinese bone bead and one larger silver bead cap. Center the beads onto the leather cord and tie a knot at each end to secure beads onto center of cord. Make sure knots are tight.
     
  2. Measure 1” from knot at one end of the center group and tie a knot at this spot. String one silver flat bead cap, one 10X6mm barrel jadeite bead and one silver flat bead cap. Tie knot to secure.
     
  3. Measure 1” from last knot and tie another knot at that spot. Measure 3” and tie another knot. Measure 3” and tie another knot. Measure another 3” and tie knot. Then string one flat silver bead cap, one 6mm round jadeite bead and one flat silver bead cap. Tie knot to secure.
     
  4. Measure 1” and tie knot. Measure another 1” and tie knot. String one flat silver bead cap, one 6mm Chinese bead and one flat silver bead cap. Tie knot to secure.
     
  5. Measure 1” and tie knot. String one large silver bead cap, one 10X4mm carved jadeite barrel bead, one silver spacer, one Chinese bead, one silver spacer, one 10X4mm carved jadeite barrel bead and one large silver bead cap. Tie knot to secure.
     
  6. Measure 1” then cut leather cord. Using chain nose pliers, crimp on a cord end.
     
  7. Repeat steps 2 thru 6 on opposite side of center grouping so that it is symmetrical.
     
  8. Thread onto eye pin, one small bead cap, 1 10X4mm jadeite barrel bead and one small bead cap. Make loop to create charm. Repeat so that there are two identical charms. Attach to one to each cord end.
     
  9. Thread onto head pin, one small silver spacer, one Chinese bead and one flat bead cap. Make loop to create charm. Repeat so that there are two identical charms. Attach to each eye pin to finish dangle.

Tip: Finished length – 43”. It is easier to make tight knots if you lubricate the leather cord with water prior to making the knots.
