Materials:

  • Yarn: Bernat® Jr. Jacquards (100 g / 3.5 oz) 1 ball for each size #05416 (Pink-O-Rama)
  • Knitting Needles: Size 4 mm (U.S. 6) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 23 sts and 30 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st.

Sizes: To fit child sizes 2/4 (6/8).


Instructions:

Cast on 93 (101) sts.
Work 5 rows in garter st (knit every row), noting first row is WS and inc 4 sts evenly across last row. 97 (105) sts.
Beg with a knit row, work 4 rows in stocking st.
Proceed in pat as follows:
1st row: (RS). *K1. yfwd. K2. Sl1. K2tog. psso. K2. yfwd. Rep from * to last st. K1.
2nd and alt rows: Purl.
3rd row: As 1st row.
5th and 7th rows: Knit.
8th row: Purl.
Rep last 8 rows of Pat for approx 6 (7) ins [15 (18) cm], ending on a 4th row of Pat.

Shape top: 1st row: (RS). *K1. K2tog. K3. K2tog. Rep from * to last st. K1. 73 (79) sts.
2nd to 4th rows: Beg with a purl row, work 3 rows stocking st.
5th row: *K1. yfwd. K1. Sl1. K2tog. psso. K1. yfwd. Rep from * to last st. K1.
6th and 8th rows: Purl.
7th row: As 5th row.
9th row: Knit.
Rep 2nd to 9th rows once more.
Next row: (WS). Purl.
Next row: *K1. K2tog. Rep from * to last st. K1. 49 (53) sts.
Next row: Purl.
Next row: *K2tog. Rep from * to last st. K1. 25 (27) sts.
Break yarn leaving a long end. Draw end tightly through rem sts and fasten securely. Sew back seam.

Twisted Cord
Cut 4 lengths of yarn 20 ins [51 cm] long. With someone holding opposite end, twist strands to the right until they begin to curl tightly. Fold strands in half and secure ends.

Pom-pom
Wind yarn around 3 fingers 60 times. Remove fingers and wrap tightly around center. Cut through both sides of loops. Trim evenly. Sew pom-pom to end of twisted cord. Attach to top of Hat.

due to popular demand frem people at church,.after making a dozen of this beautiful hat , in order to make it symitrical at the joinning side i changed the number of St to 91 or 99 or 107 with 2 St on beginning and end of each row.depending on how large you want it ,this way it it looks seamless after your done. thanks again for sharing

love love this hat i made 2 with bernat yarn rosebud and a different yarn, the bernat is so beautiful, . my best work yet. thanks to your pattern .thank you so much for sharing it. easy directions
