Girl's Jumper Knitting Pattern

This adorable striped jumper from Bernat Yarns is easy to knit and works well for growing kids. This jumper knitting pattern features stripes of "strawberry" and "lilac" yarn.

Materials:

• Yarn: Bernat® Cottontots (Solids: 100 g / 3.5 oz) or (Ombres: 85 g / 3 oz)

MC: 1 (1-1-2) ball(s) (#90321 Grape Berry)
A: 1 ball (#90320 Lovely Lilac)
B: 1 ball (#90005 Wonder White)
C: 1 ball (#90421 Strawberry)

• Knitting Needles: Sizes 4 mm (U.S. 6) and 4.5 mm (U.S. 7) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge. 2 st holders. 2 buttons.

Gauge: 18 sts and 32 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] with larger needles in Seed St Pat.

Sizes:
3 (6-12-18) mos.
Finished chest: 17½ (19-21-22) ins [44.5 (48- 53.5-56) cm].

The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ).

STRIPE PAT: Work in Seed St Pat throughout: With A, work 2 rows. With B, work 2 rows. With C, work 2 rows. With B, work 2 rows. With A, work 2 rows. With MC, work 4 rows. Rep last 14 rows for Stripe Pat.

BACK
**With MC and larger needles, cast on 53 (59-65- 69) sts loosely.
1st row: (RS). *K1. P1. Rep from * to last st. K1. Last row forms Seed St Pat.
Work a further 3 rows in Seed St Pat. Proceed in Stripe Pat for 6 rows.

Shape sides: Keeping cont of Stripe Pat, dec 1 st at each end of next row and every following 10th (10th-8th-8th) row until 39 (43-45-49) sts rem.
Cont even in pat until work from beg measures 10½ (12-13½-15½) ins [26.5 (30.5-34.5-39.5) cm], ending with a WS row.** Leave rem sts on a st holder.

FRONT
Work from ** to ** as given for Back.
Shape front: Keeping cont of pat, cast off 4 (4-4- 5) sts beg next 6 (4-4-2) rows.

Sizes 6, 12 and 18 mos only: Cast off 5 sts beg next (2-2-4) rows.

All sizes: Leave rem 15 (17-19-19) sts on a st holder.

FINISHING
Sew right side seam.
Upper edging: With RS facing, MC and smaller needles, pick up and knit 12 (14-16-18) sts up left front edge. K15 (17-19-19) from front st holder.
Pick up and knit 12 (14-16-18) sts down right front edge. K39 (43-45-49) from back st holder. 78 (88- 96-104) sts. Work 4 rows garter st. Cast off knitwise (WS).
Sew left side and upper edging seam.

Straps (make 2): With MC and smaller needles, cast on 35 (37-39-39) sts. Knit 3 rows (garter st) noting first row is WS.
Next row: (RS). K3. Cast off 2 sts. Knit to end of row.
Next row: Knit, casting on 2 sts over cast off sts.
Knit 1 row. Cast off knitwise (WS). Sew Straps in position. Sew on buttons.
