  6. You will now work the 3 different sections individually, but at same time.

  8. Weave and knit the center (72) stitches in yarn M. Hook over
  9. Weave and knit the last (6) stitches in G. Hook over.
  10. Important: You must keep the sections connected. To do this, be sure to twist the (2) colors together where they join before starting each section.
  11. Example: weave the first (6) needles in Stockinette. At needle #7, twist the G and M and return the weaving on the first (6) stitches. Hook over.
  12. Now pick up the M yarn and weave the middle section in Stockinette until you come to the last (6) stitches. Twist the (2) yarn together before returning to beginning point.
  13. Hook over the center stitches.
  14. Now pick up the last G yarn and weave the last (6) stitches. Hook over.
  15. Do this process for a total of (6) rows.
  16. Work each of the (3) sections individually, just be sure to twist the yarns to keep them connected.
  17. Center Section: Adding the squares
  18. The O squares will be added to each row before the main color M.
  19. Tie on the O yarn at the 14th needle, between the boards. Weave (10) stitches in
  20. Stockinette stitch. Skip over the next (8) needles to weave the next (10) stitches, skip the next (8) stitches, weave the last square section of (10) needles. At end of last O square, return to pick up the empty needles in Orange.
  21. Now pick up your main color, M yarn at beginning of row.
  22. Weave this in stockinette skipping the needle areas with the O yarn. Remember to twist this yarn with the G borders as you knit. Hook over all stitches.
  23. Be sure to allow the yarn some slack between the squares so your rug can have some stretch.
  24. Repeat this process for a total of (10) rows. Your O squares are complete.
  25. Knit additional (6) rows with M yarn.
  26. Tie on B yarn at beginning of next row. Cut and knot the M yarn. Lay tails between the boards.
  27. Knit a total of (28) rows in B.
  28. Tie on O yarn at beginning of next row. Cut and knot the B yarn.
  29. Knit (4) rows in O.
  30. Tie the B yarn on at beginning of row. Cut and knot the O yarn.
  31. Knit (5) rows in B. Cut and knot the B yarn.
  32. Cut and knot the G yarn at border at end of board
  33. Complete the top border in G yarn.
  34. Using the yarn skein at beginning of knitting, the next (6) rows will be all across the knitting.
  35. Knit all needles with G yarn for these (6) rows.
  36. Bind Off with crochet hook. Do this by lifting (3) loops from alternation sides of board.
  37. Pull loop closest to crochet hook thru the other (2) loops. Pick up additional (2) loops.
  38. You now have (3) loops on hook again. Pull (1) thru (2).
  39. Bind Off at the anchor yarn in same manner so that both edges of your new rug are the same even edge. Your new rug is complete, thick and cozy, a lifetime investment.
