V neck Pullover

This pullover sweater is comfortable and chic. It has a deep V-neck and soft ribbed texture. For all skill levels, try this easy knitting pattern. Also try the matching pullover sweater for baby!

MATERIALS

  • Bernat® Handicrafter Cotton
  • (50 g / 1.75 oz/73 m/80 yds)
     
  • or Bernat® Satin
  • (100 g / 3.5 oz/149 m/163 yds)
  • Sizes XS/S (M-L-XL-2/3XL-4/5XL)
  • 770 (845-925-1075-1235-1310) m

  • Knitting Needles: sizes 4.5 mm (U.S. 7) and 5 mm (U.S. 8) or size needed to obtain gauge.
  • 5 st holders.

  • Medium 36-38 ins [91.5-96.5 cm]

GAUGE
18 sts and 24 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] with larger needles in stocking st.

ABBREVIATIONS
Beg = Beginning.
Cont = Continue(ity).
Dec = Decrease(ing).
Inc = Increase 1 stitch by knitting into front and back of next stitch.
K = Knit.
K2tog = Knit 2 stitches together.
P = Purl.
P2tog = Purl 2 stitches together.
P2togtbl = Purl 2 stitches together through back loops.
Psso = Pass slipped stitch over.
Rem = Remaining.
Rep = Repeat.
RS = Right side.

INSTRUCTIONS
The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ).

**With smaller needles, cast on 86 (95-104-113- 135-153) sts.
Knit 7 rows (garter st), noting first row is WS and inc 4 (5-6-7-7-9) sts evenly across last row. 90 (100-110-120-142-162) sts.
Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st until work from beg measures 13½ (14½-15-15- 16-16) ins [34.5 (37-38-38-40.5-40.5) cm], ending with a WS row.
Shape raglans: Cast off 5 (5-5-7-8-8) sts beg next 2 rows. 80 (90-100-106-126-146) sts.**

Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st, inc 1 st each end of needle on 5th and every following 6th (6th-6th-4th-4th-2nd) row to 49 (51-52-66-94-70) sts, then every following 8th (6th-6th-6th-6th-4th) row to 67 (71-76-86-96- 104) sts.

Vneck Pullover Pattern

FINISHING
Neckband: Sew raglan seams. With RS of work facing and smaller needles, K8 (9-10-11-10-10) from right front st holder. Pick up and knit 14 (14- 14-14-17-17) sts up right front neck edge. K9 (9- 10-10-12-12) from right sleeve st holder. K34 (36-38-40-42-42) from back neck st holder, dec 2 sts evenly across. K9 (9-10-10-12-12) from left sleeve st holder. Pick up and knit 14 (14-14-14-17-17) sts down left front neck edge. K8 (9-10-11-10-10) from left front st holder. 94 (98-104-108-118-118) sts.
Knit 4 rows. Cast off knitwise (WS).
Front opening edging:
With RS of work facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 26 (29-31-32-32-35) sts down left front opening edge. Pick up and knit 26 (29-31- 32-32-35) sts up right front opening edge.
Cast off.
Sew side and sleeve seams.
