Mitered Wrap

Knit a warm and cozy wrap in a a diagonal, mitered pattern with this wrap knitting pattern. This attractive wrap, knit in squares and then edged, is a great way to keep warm throughout the winter.


 Knit Mitered Wrap


Materials:

  • Yarn: RED HEART® “Light & Lofty®”: 5 Skeins 9617 Pheasant.
  • Knitting Needles: 5.5mm [US 13].
  • Yarn needle.

 

Finished Size: 21” wide x56” long

 

Gauge: 9 sts = 4”; 12 rows = 4” in pattern

 

Special Abbreviations:
CDD (Centered Double Decrease) = Slip next 2 sts as if to knit 2 together, K1, pass the 2 slipped sts over the knit st – 2 sts decreased.


Instructions:


STRIP 1-SQUARE 1: Cast on 27 sts.
Row 1 (Wrong Side): Knit.
Row 2 (Right Side): K12, CDD, K12 – 25 sts.
Row 3: Knit.
Row 4: K11, CDD, K11 – 23 sts.
Row 5: Knit.
Row 6: K10, CDD, K10 – 21 sts.
Row 7: Purl.
Row 8: K9, CDD, K9 – 19 sts.
Row 9: Purl.
Row 10: K8, CDD, K8 – 17 sts.
Row 11: Knit.
Row 12: K7, CDD, K7 – 15 sts.
Row 13: Knit.
Row 14: K6, CDD, K6 – 13 sts.
Row 15: Knit.
Row 16: K5, CDD, K5 – 11 sts.
Row 17: Purl.
Row 18: K4, CDD, K4 – 9 sts.
Row 19: Purl.
Row 20: K3, CDD, K3 – 7 sts.
Row 21: Knit.
Row 22: K2, CDD, K2 – 5 sts.
Row 23: Knit.
Row 24: K1, CDD, K1 – 3 sts.
Row 25: Knit.
Row 26: K3tog. Fasten off.

 

SQUARE 2: Cast on 13 sts. Place previous square with CDD diagonal going from lower left to upper right, pick up and K14 sts along right edge of previous square – 27 sts. Work Rows 1-26 of Square 1.

 

SQUARE 3: Work same as Square 2.

 

STRIPS 2-8-SQUARE 1: Place piece with CDD diagonals going from lower left to upper right, pick up and K14 sts along top edge of Square 1 on previous strip; cast on 13 sts – 27 sts. Work Rows 1-26 of Square 1 of Strip 1.

 

SQUARES 2 and 3: Place piece with CDD diagonal going from lower left to upper right. Pick up and K14 sts along top edge of next unworked square on previous strip having last st in corner, pick up and K13 sts along right edge of previous square on same row – 27 sts. Work Rows 1-26 of Square 1 of Strip 1.

 

EDGING-Short Side: With right side facing, pick up and K14 sts across each square, having last st on each square in corner – 42 sts.
Row 1 (Wrong Side): Knit.
Row 2 (Right Side): Inc in first st, Knit to last st, inc in last st – 44 sts.
Rows 3 and 4: Repeat Rows 1 and 2 – 46 sts. Bind off loosely. Repeat on opposite short side.

 

Long Side: With right side facing and omitting edging of short sides, pick up and K14 sts across each square, having last st on each square in corner – 112 sts.
Row 1 (Wrong Side): Knit.
Row 2 (Right Side): Inc in first st, Knit to last st, inc in last st – 114 sts.
Rows 3 and 4: Repeat Rows 1 and 2 – 116 sts. Bind off loosely.

 

FINISHING: Sew corner seams. Weave in all ends.
