Materials
:

Bernat Satin (100 g/3.5 oz)
Sizes XS–7 balls; S–7 balls; M–8 balls; L–8 balls; XL–9 balls

Sizes 4 mm (U.S. 6) and 5 mm (U.S. 8) knitting needles. Sizes 4 mm (U.S. 6) and 5 mm (U.S. 8) circular needles 16 ins 40 cm long or size needed to obtain gauge. 4 st holders.


GAUGE:
18 sts and 24 rows = 4 ins 10 cm in stocking st with larger needles.


Instructions:

The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ).

Back:

With larger needles, cast on 74 (78-82-86-90) sts.
1st row: (RS). K2. P2. K2. Rep from to end of row.
2nd row: P2. K2. P2. Rep from to end of row.
Rep these 2 rows (K2. P2) ribbing for 3 ins 7.5 cm ending on a 2nd row.
Change to smaller needles and cont in (K2. P2) ribbing until work from beg measures 5½ ins 14 cm ending on a 1st row.
Next row: (WS). Rib, dec 9 sts evenly across. 65 (69-73-77-81) sts.

Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st for 6 rows.
Inc 1 st each end of needle on next and following 6th rows until there are 77 (81-85-91-95) sts.
Cont even until work from beg measures 13½ (13½-13½-14-14) ins 34.5 (34.5-34.5-35.5-35.5) cm ending with RS facing for next row.

Shape raglans: Cast off 2 sts beg next 2 rows. 73 (77-81-87-91) sts.

Sizes XS, S, M and L only: Next row: K2. K2tog. Knit to last 4 sts. Sl1. K1. psso. K2.
Work 3 rows even.
Rep last 4 rows 2 (2-1-0) time(s) more. 67 (71-77-85) sts.

All Sizes: Next row: K2. K2tog. Knit to last 4 sts. Sl1. K1. psso. K2.
Work 1 row even.
Rep last 2 rows until there are 53 (55-57-57-59) sts. Leave rem sts on a st holder.


Front:

Work from to as given for Back. Rep last 2 rows until there are 61 (63-65-65-67) sts, ending with RS facing for next row.

Shape neck: Next row: K2. K2tog. K5 (neck edge). Leave rem sts on a spare needle.
Purl 1 row.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next and following alt rows twice more, AT SAME TIME, cont dec at raglan edge as before on next and following alt rows until there are 2 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Next row: K2tog. Fasten off.

With RS of work facing, slip next 43 (45-47-47-49) sts onto a st holder. Join yarn to rem sts. Knit to last 4 sts. Sl1. K1. psso. K2.
Purl 1 row.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next and following alt rows twice more, AT SAME TIME, cont dec at raglan edge as before on next and following alt rows until there are 2 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Next row: Sl1. K1. psso. Fasten off.


Sleeves:

With smaller needles, cast on 34 (34-38-38-38) sts. Work 4½ ins 11.5 cm in (K2. P2) ribbing as given for Back ending on a 2nd row and inc 1 st in center of last row. 35 (35-39-39-39) sts.

Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st for 8 rows.
Inc 1 st each end of next and following 8th (8th-8th-6th-6th) rows until there are 51 (53-57-45-51) sts.

Sizes L and XL only: Inc 1 st each end of following 8th rows until there are (59-61) sts.

All Sizes: Cont even until work from beg measures 18 (18-18½-18½-18½) ins 45.5 (45.5-47-47-47) cm ending with RS facing for next row.

Shape raglans: Cast off 2 sts beg next 2 rows. 47 (49-53-55-57) sts.

Sizes L and XL only: Next row: (RS). K2. K2tog. Knit to last 4 sts. Sl1. K1. psso. K2.
Work 3 rows even. (53-55) sts.

All Sizes: Next row: (RS). K2. K2tog. Knit to last 4 sts. Sl1. K1. psso. K2.
Work 1 row even.
Rep last 2 rows until there are 21 (21-25-25-27) sts, ending with RS facing for next row. Leave rem sts on a st holder.


Finishing:

Collar: Sew raglan seams.
With RS of work facing and smaller circular needle, K21 (21-25-25-27) from left sleeve st holder dec 2 (3-3-3-3) sts evenly across. Pick up and knit 8 sts down left front neck edge. K43 (45-47-47-49) from Front st holder dec 5 sts evenly across. Pick up and knit 8 sts up right front neck edge. K21 (21-25-25-27) from right sleeve st holder dec 2 (3-3-3-3) sts evenly across. K53 (55-57-57-59) from Back st holder dec 5 (7-5-5-6) sts evenly across. 140 (140-154-154-161) sts.

Next row: K2. P2. K2. P1. Rep from around.
Last row forms rib pat.
Work 4 ins 10 cm in rib pat.
Next row: K2. P2. K2. Inc 1 st purlways in next st. Rep from around. 160 (160-176-176-184) sts.
Next row: K2. P2. Rep from around.
Work 5 ins 12.5 cm in (K2. P2) ribbing. Change to larger circular needle and cont in (K2. P2) ribbing until Collar measures 12 ins 30.5 cm.
Cast off in ribbing loosely.
Sew side and sleeve seams.
