MATERIALS

  • Bernat® Bamboo (60 g / 2.1 oz/57 m/63 yds)
  • Sizes XS/S (M-L-XL-2/3XL-4/5XL)
  • 8 (10-12-13-14-16) balls
  • Knitting Needles: size 6 mm (U.S. 10) or size needed to obtain gauge. 2 st holders.

14 sts and 20 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st.

Alt = Alternate(ing).
Beg = Beginning.
Cont = Continue(ity).
Dec = Decrease.
Inc = Increase 1 stitch by knitting into front and back of next stitch.
K = Knit.
K2tog = Knit 2 stitches together.
M1 = Make one stitch by picking up horizontal loop lying before next stitch and knitting into back of loop.
Psso = Pass slipped stitch over.
Rem = Remaining.
Rep = Repeat.
RS = Right side.

INSTRUCTIONS
The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ). When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. For ease in working, circle all numbers pertaining to your size.

FRONT
**Cast on 66 (72-78-86-100-114) sts.
1st row: (WS). Knit.**
Beg with a knit row, proceed in stocking st, dec 1 st each end of needle on 9th and every following 6th row 2 (2-2-2-1-1) time(s) more. 60 (66-72-80-96- 110) sts.
Work 9 rows even.
Cont in stocking st, inc 1 st each end of needle on next and every following 10th row 2 (2-2-2-1-1) time(s) more. 66 (72-78-86-100-114) sts.
Cont even until work from beg measures 14 ins [35.5 cm], ending with a purl row.**

Shape armholes and front “drape”: Cast off 5 (6-7-9-12-15) sts beg next 2 rows. 56 (60-64-68- 76-84) sts.
1st row: (RS). K2. K2tog. K24 (26-28-30-34-38). M1 (place marker on just made st). Knit to last 4 sts. Sl1. K1. psso. K2. 55 (59-63-67-75-83) sts.
2nd and alt rows: Purl.
3rd row: K2. K2tog. Knit to marked st. M1 (place marker on just made st). K1. M1 (place marker on just made st). Knit to last 4 sts. Sl1. K1. psso. K2.

Shape shoulders: Cast off 8 (9-10-11-13-15) sts beg next 2 rows. Leave rem 53 (57-59-63-67-73) sts on a st holder.

BACK
Work from ** to ** as given for Front.
Shape armholes: Cast off 5 (6-7-9-12-15) sts beg next 2 rows. 56 (60-64-68-76-84) sts.
Next row: (RS). K2. K2tog. Knit to last 4 sts. Sl1. K1. psso. K2.
Next row: Purl.
Rep last 2 rows 4 (5-6-7-9-11) times more. 46 (48- 50-52-56-60) sts.
Cont even until armhole measures same length as Front before shoulders, ending with a purl row.
Shape shoulders: Cast off 8 (9-10-11-13-15) sts beg next 2 rows. Leave rem 30 sts on a st holder.

SLEEVES
Right side: (make 2).
Cast on 18 (18-19-20-21-22) sts.
1st row: (WS). Knit.
Beg with a knit row, proceed in stocking st, inc 1 st at beg of row only on 9th (7th-7th-3rd-3rd-3rd) row and every following 8th (6th-6th-2nd-2nd- 2nd) row to 22 (24-25-21-28-39) sts.

Sizes XL and 2/3 XL only: Inc 1 st at beg of row only on every following 4th row to (30-33) sts.

All sizes: Cont even until work from beg measures 9 ins [23 cm], ending with a purl row.

Shape top: Cast off 3 (4-5-6-9-11) sts beg of next row. 19 (20-20-24-24-28) sts.
Work 3 rows even.
Dec 1 st beg of next and every following 4th row 1 (1-3-0-2-0) time(s) more, then every following alt row 10 (11-8-15-13-18) times, then every row 3 times. 4 (4-5-5-5-6) sts. Cast off.

Left side: (make 2).
Cast on 18 (18-19-20-21-22) sts.

FINISHING
Pin garment pieces to measurements. Cover with a damp cloth, leaving cloth to dry.
Sew right shoulder seam. With RS of work facing, K53 (57-59-63-67-73) from front st holder. K30 from back st holder. 83 (87-89-93-97-103). Cast off knitwise (WS).
Sew in Left and Right sides of sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams. Tack openings on Sleeves evenly spaced in 4 places.
