Pillar Stitch Afghan

Knit yourself a pillar stitch afghan. This is a free and easy knitting pattern from Bernat Yarns that you can keep for years. The yarn is nice and warm for you to lounge around in. The colors are great for Christmastime.

  • Bernat® Chunky (Solids: 400 g / 14 oz)
  • 1 ball each of #90430 (Soft Burgundy) as MC, #90426 (Antique Rose) as A and #90425 (Soft Antique Rose) as B.
  • Bernat® Chunky (Ombres: 300 g / 10.5 oz)
  • 1 ball of #91535 (Neapolitan) as C.
  • Sizes 5 mm (U.S. 8) and 6 mm (U.S. 10) circular knitting needles 36 ins [90 cm] long or size needed to obtain gauge.

18 sts and 20 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] with
larger needle in pat.

With MC and smaller circular needle, cast on 216 sts. Do not join. Working back

1st row: (WS). With MC, K1. Purl to last st. K1.
2nd row: K1. *yfwd. K2. Pass yfwd over 2 sts. Rep from * to last st. K1.

With MC, rep 1st row once.

Cast off.

Side edging: With RS of work facing, MC and smaller needle, pick up and knit
240 sts evenly along side edge. Knit 5 rows. Cast off.

Hi bandjcarey - We strive to include the finished size whenever possible. However, if it is not provided to us by the designer, we have no way of knowing. Glad you've discovered our site! -The editors of FaveCrafts

I am new to your sight and really like and would like to start several of your patterns. It would be very nice if you could include the finished size for the afghans. Thank you.
