Ridged or Waffle Dishcloth

Use these free dishcloth knitting patterns from Bernat Yarns to create a ridged dishcloth or a waffle dishcloth. The raised textures of these easy dishcloths will help in cleaning dishes. Dishcloths make great knitting patterns for beginners.
 

Materials:

  Ridged Dishcloth

Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Twists (42.5 g/1.5 oz)

2 balls of #41244 (Green Twists).

OR (340 g/12 oz) 1 ball of #42244 (Green Twists).

Waffle Dishcloth

Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Twists (42.5 g/1.5 oz)

1 ball of #41117 (Denim Twists).

OR (340 g/12 oz) 1 ball of #42117 (Denim Twists).

• Size 5 mm (U.S. 8) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge:

15 sts and 20 rows = 4 ins 10 cm in stocking st.

Measurements:

Approx 10"  [25.5 cm] square.

Pattern:

Cast on 38 sts.
Work 5 rows in garter st (knit every row), noting that first row is WS.
*Beg with a purl row, work 4 rows in stocking st (knit on RS and purl on WS).
Work 5 rows in garter st.
Rep from * 6 times more, ending with RS facing for next row.
Knit 1 row. Cast off knitwise (WS).

WAFFLE DISHCLOTH
Cast on 47 sts.
**1st row: (WS). Knit.
2nd row: K1. *K1 in next stitch in row below. K1. Rep from * to end of row.
3rd row: As 1st row.
4th row: K2. *K1 in next stitch in row below. K1. Rep from * to last st. K1.
Rep from ** until from beg measures 10" [25.5 cm], ending with 1st or 3rd row. Cast off knitwise.
