Easy Stripe Pot Holder

This easy pot holder knitting pattern works up very quickly with three strands of yarn. Create a functional and decorative accent for your kitchen in no time. This pattern coordinates with many knit items in our Kitchen Knits category, and is a great way to use up scrap yarn from a bigger project. 

Materials:

• Yarn: Lily® Sugar’n Cream (2.5 oz/70.9 g) (Note: Use 3 strands of yarn.)

Main Color (MC): (White) 1 ball
Contrast A: (Blue) 1 ball
Contrast B: (Green) 1 ball

• Knitting Needles: Size 8 mm (U.S. 11) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 10 sts and 15 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st with 3 strands of yarn

Instructions:

With 3 strands of B, cast on 17 sts.
1st row: (RS). K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row.
This row forms seed st pat.
Work a further 7 rows in seed st pat.
With 3 strands of A, work 2 rows in stocking st.
Next row: (RS). With 30 strands of MC, knit.
With 3 strands of MC, work 3 rows in seed st pat.
With 3 strands of B, work 2 rows in stocking st.
Next row: (RS). With 3 strands of MC, knit.
Work 7 rows in seed st pat ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off in pat.

Loop: Cut 2 strands of MC 12 ins [30.5 cm] long. Hold one end and with someone holding other end, twist strand to the right until it begins to curl. Fold the 2 ends tog and tie in a knot so they will not unravel. The strands will now twist themselves tog. Adjust length if desired. Sew loop to corner of Pot Holder.
