I have been crocheting almost 40 yrs. I would love to make this bowl for my daughter, but I don't know what a Magic Loop is. Can you please explain this, or is it a simple circle that I make with a chain stitch? Thanks for your help.

YouTube videos can explain the Magic Circle. It's used so that you don't end up wit ha hole in the middle of your work. You start with an adjustable circle of yarn wrapped around your finger, and for this pattern you'd make 16dc's into the loop. Pull the loop right, and you won't have a large hole in the middle of your circle anymore.
