3. Wearing rubber gloves, add water to dye bottles. Replace caps tightly. Shake until dye is dissolved.

4. Pull up a small piece of shirt fabric. Wrap rubber band around fabric. Repeat procedure to create a random pattern over entire shirt. Refer to photo.

5. Squeeze red dye onto tips of banded fabric, turquoise dye into area immediately around and under rubber bands, and blue dye over remaining areas.

6. Cover shirt with trash bag. Let set 4 to 6 hours. Wash in a large load of water with a small amount of laundry soap. Line dry.

7. Lay shirt so back is facing up. Cut off sleeves. Cut a gentle arc through only back of shirt from base of one sleeve to base of opposite sleeve.

8. Turn shirt so front is facing up. Cut a straight line across only front of shirt from middle of one armhole to middle of opposite armhole.

9. Cut off hem. Cut three 1” wide strips from bottom of shirt, cutting through both layers. This forms a circular piece of fabric. Cut each circle to form one long strip. Cut each strip in half, for a total of six strips. Braid three strips together for each strap.

10. Poke two small holes in center of back of shirt, using scissors.

11. From outside of shirt, thread loose end of one braid through one hole. Pull it through and tie knot at end. Repeat for other side.
