Make a bunch of these yo-yos out of different fabrics and put on display in a basket for a cute decorating idea.  Or make them to include in many craft projects featured on our site.

Steps:

  1. Make a pattern or template for your yo-yo. It’s basically a circle of fabric. The circle must be twice the size of what you want the finished yo-yo to be plus add a 1/2" to 1/4" seam allowance.

  2. Cut out circle of fabric. Fold the outside edge of the circle down 1/2" to 1/4” for seam allowance. You will be looking at the wrong side of the fabric as you do this. Using short stitches, stitch around this outer edge with a running or gathering stitch.

  3. Pull stitches tight. You’ll end up with a tiny opening, but the yo-yo will be gathered and then knot off. Flatten yo-yo gently with your hand.
