Trying to find a cool Fourth of July craft? This Patriotic Kids Throw by Mary Gaines is a great free sewing pattern for giving some patriotism to your home decor, but is also perfect for watching the fireworks at night. This throw also keeps you cozy while roasting s'mores or gathering around the campfire.

Materials:

  • 2 skeins of blue
  • 2 skeins of white
  • 2 skeins of red or a rust color

Instructions:

  1. Chain 112 with red color, then double crochet at 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across – 110 double crochets made.

  2. Chain 2 – then turn and double crochet in next chain continue across. Continue this until you have 10 rows of the red color made.

  3. Change to white and follow these same instructions making 10 rows of white.

  4. Change to blue and follow these same instructions making 10 rows of blue.

  5. Continue until you have 6 panels in all, 2 red, 2 white, 2 blue in the order as seen in the photo.

  6. At the end tie a knot and cut off extra yarn.

  7. For fringe, you can use all three colors in each fringe as I did in mine. Just cut 10” pieces of each of the colors to make the fringe. Tie each 3 piece fringe at the bottom and top of the throw, then be sure to cut any fringe that appears uneven.
