Create your own vintage–looking rub–ons in any design you want with this easy to use technique from Krylon.

Vintage Style Handmade Cards

Materials:

  • Krylon Preserve It!® Digital Photo & Paper Protectant - Clear (#7027)
  • Krylon Spray Adhesive - Clear (#7010)
  • Clear Transparency Sheet for laser printers or copiers
  • Embossing stylus
  • Computer and inkjet printer
  • Vintage receipt or clip-art
  • Personal photo or vintage image
  • Black cardstock
  • Ink pad in color of choice
  • Embellishment materials of choice: ribbon, mesh, tag, staples, marker, metal letters, silk flowers, etc.

Steps:

  1. Apply a light coat of Preserve It to the transparency following manufacturer’s instructions. Allow to dry.

  2. Print vintage photo onto sprayed side of transparency, allow to dry, and then spray another coat of Preserve It onto the printed image. Set aside to dry for several more minutes.

  3. Create a card by cutting and folding black cardstock.

  4. Ink the edges of your vintage receipt or printed clip-art with ink pad and adhere to card front.

  5. Place your printed image face down onto the receipt/clip-art. Rub the image off of the transparency onto the project surface using smooth motions with the stylus to achieve a solid stamp-like effect.

  6. Embellish as you wish.
