Charming Hair Flower

Materials:

  • Fabric scraps
  • Thread
  • Needle
  • Scissors
  • JBS Charms

Charming Hair Flower

Instructions:

  1. I used leftover fabric bits--the teeniest tiniest bits in my stash. They were all about one inch wide by 4 to 10 inches long. I didn't have enough of any one print, so I pulled several pieces of the same color but different prints together. This turned out to make quite a cool look. So to get started, first you will need to cut pointy "teeth" along one side of all your strips.

  2. Next you will run a simple basting stitch along the straight edge of your fabric. When you pull the fabric tight it will gather. I used some old cotton thread that I acquired from my mother.

  3. When you have as much gathered length as you think you will need, tie it off. Leave a length of thread hanging though in case you decide that you need to add more fabric. Now start rolling the fabric onto itself and repeatedly stitching through the base to keep it together.

  4. Once you're done, sew a few JBS Charms in the center! Sew Charming!

Is there a video that shows how to make this i am a visual learner?

Very pretty..

Great way to make a super fluffy flower!

Very cute...vintage look as well i think!

I love the way this flower looks. I just saw a purse today with a big flower like that on the front of it. I think I will make one.

looks fun

Cute but how is it worn? Is it hot glued to a barrette or what?

You can glue it on anything you want to! But you also can stitch it on, without having glue on your Item (Barrett, Handbag, Wristband etc ...) did I say Wristband? Just try it! looks very cute! When sewn on, it is removable any time without a Trace! Good Luck!

I also wonder, as did casteach, what 'rolling the fabric onto itself' means. Is there a way to find out?

Just start on one end and start it up! Every time, you got around, make one stitch, to secure it, then twist again the Base of it, another Stitch, until you are done. You have also add strips, until you have the Size you wanna have! Good Luck!

Very clever love the colors

Very clever love the colors

This is the cutest thing! I'm new to this and sometimes I try to do things that is a little advanced for me. I would love to try this, but I just don't get the part about rolling the fabric onto itself.

this is adorable and very in style. How did you attach it to the hair? Bobby Pins? Sew it to a covered elastic? Clip Pin? I think this would also make a great decoration on a purse! Thanks for the how to...
