How to Make an Eye Mask from a Tee Shirt

Catch some zzz's with your favorite tee!  You can make this easy eye mask from Savannah Starr using an old shirt.  Old t-shirt crafts like this are perfect for helping to clean out your closet and make great little gifts for bridal and baby showers!

Materials:

  • Cardboard (cereal box)
  • Felt
  • Poster Board
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • T-shirt
  • Aleene’s Tacky Glue
  • Tracing Pencil
  • Sewing Machine & Thread
  • Elastic
  • Aleene’s Peel and Stick Sheets
  • Scotch Tape
  • Sequins by the yard
  • Rhinestones
  • Tweezers

Instructions:

  1. Trace patterns onto poster board.
     
  2. Cut along pattern line.
     
  3. Cut a piece of felt and glue onto poster board.
     
  4. Cut a piece of T-shirt 1/2" larger than eye mask pattern.
     
  5. Trace around poster board.
     
  6. Cut up to line in 1/2" intervals.
     
  7. Place poster board felt side down on T-shirt.
     
  8. Apply glue along edge.
     
  9. Press cut edges of t-shirt into the glue.
     
  10. Measure elastic to fit your head and stitch into place.
     
  11. Apply peel and stick adhesive sheets to the back of the t-shirt material.
     
  12. Trace around eye mask pattern.
     
  13. Cut approximately 1/4" inside pattern line.
     
  14. Peel back 1/4" of paper backing.
     
  15. Adhere to the inside of mask.
     
  16. Make narrow tip on bottle with tape.
     
  17. Apply thin line of glue along the edge.
     
  18. Lay sequins into the glue line.
     
  19. Cut the sequins where ends meet.
     
  20. Lay pattern over eye mask to mark rhinestone gluing lines.
     
  21. Apply glue following pattern lines.
     
  22. Apply rhinestones with tweezers.

Ummmm, this keeps talking about a pattern, but there is no pattern. Are we just supposed to guess?

The t-shirt material is the cheesiest part of this project. If you're buying sequins and rhinestones, buy 1/8 yard of satin material.

What do you think?That does look really cool but are all those materials safe enough to put near the eyes?

Good instructions, I will be trying this. But pattern ends in an n, and stitch has 2 t's in it. If we're being professional, let's BE professional...
