Floral Plant Stakes

Think outside the box with this fantastic craft for spring. Floral Plant Stakes from Linda Peterson add a whimsical touch to any garden. Use a flower die to cut out each flower. Leave these florals up all year - they won't wither away when the weather changes. You can even use soda cans to create cool designs and trim your trash.

Materials:

  • ArtEmboss Copper Medium
  • Wireform Copper Mesh
  • Sizzix Tattered Flowers Die
  • Die Cutting Machine
  • Torch, candle or heat gun
  • Tacky Glue
  • Bamboo skewer
  • Acrylic paint – green
  • 24 gauge copper wire
  • Pliers
  • 1/16” circle hole punch
  • Crystals or baubles of choice for inside of flowers

Instructions:

  1. Paint bamboo skewer green. Allow to dry.
     
  2. Die cut shapes from copper and copper wire mesh.

  3. Hold copper flowers with pliers and colorize by applying heat. Allow to cool.

  4. Punch two holes into the center of each flower.

  5. Thread an 8” piece of wire through the back of large copper flower, large mesh flower and large daisy shaped flower. Repeat this step going the opposite holes until both ends of wire are on the back. Twist together.

  6. Wrap wire around bamboo skewer to secure.

  7. Repeat the above steps for additional flower. Combine flower shapes in interesting combinations.
     
  8. Apply tacky glue to the center of each flower and add crystals or embellishments of choice. Allow to dry.

  9. Variation: Use metal soda cans to add interest to flower shapes.
