Great for kids and adults alike, this Chalkboard Style Terra Cotta Planter is a great craft for the summertime!  Simply paint a terra cotta planter with black paint and let your little ones create their very own flower pot!  Crafts like this are great for crafters of all ages!  This also makes a great gift idea for Teacher Appreciation, Mother's Day, and so much more!

Chalkboard Terra Cotta Planter

  • One unglazed terracotta flower pot
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Pilot silver marker pen
  • Quick-drying matt spray varnish
  • Fine sanding paper
  • 10/32” paint brush
  • Few sheets of old newspaper to protect the working area
  • Suitable artificial plant

  1. Lightly sand the pot before starting to paint.
  2. Clean the pot with warm soapy water and allow it to dry completely in the sun.
  3. Paint a layer of the black acrylics over the whole pot.  First paint the inside and allow it to dry. Add a second coat if necessary.  Then, paint the outside of the pot, and allow it to dry thoroughly. Paint a second coat, if necessary, to obtain a nice even look.
