Upcycled Patriotic Shoes

Upcycled craft ideas can turn boring shoes into extraordinary pieces of art! This 4th of July, create your own Upcycled Patriotic Shoes from Savannah Starr using common items like doilies and Mardi Gras beads. The wilder the shoes, the better!

Upcycled Patriotic Shoes
 

Materials:

  • Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Permanent Dry Cleanable Fabric Adhesive
  • Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Peel & Stick Tape
  • Shoes – red or color of your choice
  • Acrylic paint – blue or color of your choice
  • Paint brush
  • Paper plates
  • Scissors
  • Crochet doily – round
  • Glitter – blue or color of your choice
  • Small and medium beads – red, white & blue or colors of your choice
  • Star beads garland

Instructions:

  1. Brush acrylic paint onto front of doilies. Let dry. Brush over paint with Aleene’s Fabric Fusion.

  2. Sprinkle glitter over glue. Let dry. Shake off excess glitter.

  3. Cut doily in half. Apply Aleene’s Fabric Fusion to back of doily.

  4. Apply glue to top of shoe.

  5. Glue doily in place.

  6. Apply Aleene’s Fabric Fusion glue to front sides of shoes.

  7. Sprinkle beads into glue and use fingers to move them into position. Let dry.

  8. Apply strip of Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Peel & Stick Tape to back of shoe. Sprinkle with glitter. Glue star garland over glitter. Let dry.
