Sweet Scrapbook Flower Pots

By:

Celebrate the beauty of the written word with these Sweet Scrapbook Flower Pots from I Love to Create. Break out some spare scrapbook pages and use them to dress up plain terra-cotta pots. If you don't have any decorative paper on hand, dig through your recycling bin for inspiration. Newspaper clippings work well for this unique flower craft. The finished pots can be used for everything from office supplies to silverware. Set a few of these pots on the dining room table for a rustic yet trendy look.

Sweet Scrapbook Flower Pots

Materials:

  • Aleene's® Fast Grab Tacky Glue™
  • 1” foam brush
  • Low-tack masking tape
  • Scissors
  • Permanent felt pen – black
  • Foil
  • Decorative papers – desired colors to match
  • Large flower heads – desired color 6 per pot
  • Terra cotta pots – 4 1/5” wide

Instructions:

  1. Tear papers into about 1½” to 2” pieces.

  2. Squeeze a small puddle of Fast Grab onto foil. Dip dry foam brush into glue then working in small sections at a time, brush onto side of clay pot, applying a thin even layer. Brush glue onto back of paper piece, press in place into adhesive on pot, then carefully brush another coat of glue over top. Add glue to back on next piece then press in place on pot, slightly overlapping first piece. Repeat step, covering base of pot. Let dry.

  3. Remove flower heads from stem. Cut off as much of the plastic backing holding flower together without it falling apart. Apply a swirl of Fast Grab to center back of flower head then press on place on rim of pot, holding with low-tack masking tape if needed until dry. Equally space and glue remainder of flower heads around rim. Let dry.

  4. Use felt pen to write desired words on side of pot as shown.
