Pink Crochet Easter Basket

This is a beginner to intermediate level crochet pattern that you can make every year and share with a friend. Free crochet patterns like this one are so cute. The Easter basket can hold all your goodies.

Materials:

  • 1 skein nylon twine (shown here, Librett Durables, length 185 ft, thickness no. 24 -- should be enough to make 2 baskets)
  • Crochet hook size H/8/5.00 mm

GAUGE
3 sts = 1 inch; 1 row = 1 inch

Abbreviations
ch = chain
BPdc = back post double crochet
dc = double crochet
FPdc = front post double crochet
RS = right side
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
st = stitch

BOTTOM SECTION
ROUND 1 • (RS): Ch 2, 6 scs into 2nd ch from hook, sl st into top of 1st st (6 sts), do not turn
ROUND 2 • Ch 1, 2 scs in same and each st around (12 sts), sl st into top of 1st st (12 sts), do not turn
ROUND 3 • Ch 1, 1 sc in same st, 2 scs in next st, [1 st in next st, 2 scs in next st] around (18 sts), sl st into top of 1st st, do not turn
ROUND 4 • Ch 1, 1 sc in same st and next st, 2 scs in next st, [1 st in next 2 sts, 2 scs in next st] around (24 sts), sl st into top of 1st st, do not turn
ROUND 5 • Ch 1, 1 sc in same st and next 2 sts, 2 scs in next st, [1 st in next 3 sts, 2 scs in next st] around (30 sts), sl st into top of 1st st, do not turn
ROUND 6 • Ch 1, 1 sc in same st and next 3 sts, 2 scs in next st, [1 st in next 4 sts, 2 scs in next st] around (36 sts), sl st into top of 1st st, do not turn
ROUND 7 • Ch 1, 1 sc in same st and each st around (36 sts), sl st into top of 1st st, do not turn

SIDES OF BASKET
ROUND 8 • Ch 2, 1 dc in same and each st around (36 sts), sl st to top of 1st dc, do not turn
ROUND 9 • Ch 2, 1 FPdc in same st and next 2 sts, 1 BPdc in next 3 sts, [1 FPdc in next 3 sts, 1 BPdc in next 3 sts] around (36 sts), sl st to top of 1st dc, do not turn
ROUND 10 • Ch 2, 1 BPdc in same st and next 2 sts, 1 FPdc in next 3 sts, [1 BPdc in next 3 sts, 1 FPdc in next 3 sts] around (36 sts), sl st to top of 1st dc, do not turn
ROUND 11 • Repeat Round 9
ROUND 12 • Ch 1, 1 sc in same and each st around, don’t fasten off

HANDLE
Ch 20, attach to the 19th st on the other side (should be half way around) by sl st, work 1 sc in each ch back across, fasten off.
Note: You might want to feed some wiring through the handle to stiffen it.

I went to Hobby Lobby in the craft section. Bought Bonnie Craft Cord. I also switched hook to K or N.

the nylon twine is boat rope. Look in a hardware store or farm supply store in the rope section

where do u find the twine?

Where do you get the nylon twine for this Easter basket?? I have looked on the internet and cannot find it. Why put in a pattern with material that is not easily found??
