Girly Makeup Case

By:

Fun girly crafts are the perfect activity for a lazy afternoon. Make a boring makeup case extraordinary with the addition of homemade embellishments and acrylic paint. This Girly Makeup Case from Heidi Borchers makes organization easy and fun.

Materials:

  • Cool2Cast by Tiffany Windsor
  • Plastic zip bag(s)
  • Water
  • Plastic blister packaging
  • Box lids (to prop up blister molds)
  • Acrylic paint (colors of your choice)
  • Brushes – fine line and flat shader
  • Optional: fine line markers to write words, mirror tiles and glass tiles to decorate make up box
  • Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue

Instructions:

  1. For this project, I used blister packaging for my molds. This is the plastic that comes on most carded products. The one on the left is from Wite-Out and the one on the right is from a tube of glue.

  2. On these shapes, the plastic blister packaging is rounded on the front so in order to fill it with Cool2Cast, you will need to steady it so that it sits flat. I just use a box lid for most of my molds.

  3. In a plastic zip bag, mix the Cool2Cast with water according to package directions. Shake for approximately 1 minute until it is thoroughly mixed to the consistency of pancake batter.

  4. Snip a small part off the corner of the bag…

  5. …and pour into the mold. Note that I only filled up this mold about 1/3 of the way.

  6. Tap on side of mold to help Cool2Cast to settle and to help any bubbles rise to the top. Set aside undisturbed for at least 1 hour until Cool2Cast is set. Gently remove from mold and set aside to dry completely overnight.

  7. To decorate my Cool2Cast pieces, I paint them with acrylic paint. You can use a black marking pen or fine black paint pen or fine line brush to write the words over the paint. Let dry completely and seal with Aleene’s Spray Acrylic in matte or gloss or brush on Aleene’s Collage Pauge. Glue in place on side of make-up case with Aleene’s Tacky Glue.

  9. For the handle of my make up case, I used pretty beads and I poured, painted and glued the mascara and eye liner shapes on the top.
