Great for storage and separating room spaces, this room screen from Krylon is both functional and beautiful.

Supplies:

  • Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Paint - Burgundy (#52118)
  • Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Paint - Hunter Green (#52001)
  • Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Paint - Purple (#51913)
  • Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Paint - Banner Red (#52108)
  • Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Paint - Sun Yellow (#51806)
  • Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Paint - Bauhaus Gold (#51801)
  • (3) Krylon Easy-Tack™ Repositionable Adhesive - Easy-Tack™ Repositionable Adhesive (#7020)
  • Krylon Leafing Pens - 18 KT. Gold (#9901)
  • Krylon Leafing Pens - Copper (#9903)
  • Walnut Hollow traditional changing screen
  • Ivy stencil
  • Stencil Roller & Frame
  • One roll of brown kraft paper
  • Low tack masking tape
  • Paper plate
  • Drop cloth
  • Sand paper
  • Wood glue
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Craft glue
  • Screw driver
  • Tack cloth

Steps:

  1. Assemble the three frame units of the changing screen as directed by the manufacturer. Let wood glue set. Sand any rough edges and remove dust with tack cloth.

  2. Spray each frame unit, front and back, with Bauhaus Gold. Spray each end of the six dowels. Let dry.

  3. Measure and cut three 11 1/2" x 55" lengths of brown paper. Place papers on drop cloth. Randomly spray with Purple, Burgundy, Banner Red and Hunter Green. Refer to photo for suggested coloration. Spray entire length of paper sparingly with Sun Yellow by holding can approximately 30" – 36" from the surface. Let dry.

  4. Fold each end of the papers under 2". Glue ends in place to form casings for the dowels.

  5. Spray Easy-Tack™ on back of stencil. Let set five minutes. Place stencil on painted side of one paper panel, referring to photo for placement. Spray a puddle of Navy Blue on paper plate. Roll roller in paint to cover evenly. Roll paint on paper towel to remove excess and to test coverage. Use roller to “paint” the stencil, remembering that “Less Is More” in stenciling. Remove stencil and wipe clean. Repeat this procedure to create leaves on all three panels. Let dry.

  6. Use Copper and Gold Leafing Pens to accent stenciled motifs.

  7. Assemble screen frame and finish as directed by the manufacturer.
