Swirls Crochet Stocking

This swirly crochet stocking has adorable pockets with swirly detail. Try this free easy crochet pattern for an easy to make Christmas decoration.

Swirls Crochet Stocking

Materials:

  • 1 skein TLC Amore yarn in Celery and small amount in Scarlet
  • H crochet hook or hook needed to obtain gauge
  • needle and invisible (clear) sewing thread.

SIZE: 17” long

Gauge: 3 hdc sts = 1”, 2 rows hdc = 1”

Steps:

STOCKING:
ROW 1: With Celery yarn and H hook ch-22, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (20 sts)
ROW 2-28: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.
ROW 29: 2 hdc next st, hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn. (21 sts)
ROW 30: Hdc ea st to last st, 2 hdc last st, ch-1, turn. (22 sts)
ROW 31: Rep row 29. (23 sts)
ROW 32: Rep row 30. (24 sts)
ROW 33-36: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.
ROW 37: Hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn. (23 sts)
ROW 38: Hdc ea st to last 2 sts, hdc dec last 2 sts, ch-1, turn. (22 sts)
ROW 39: Rep row 37. (21 sts)
ROW 40: Rep row 38. (20 sts)
ROW 41: Sl st next 8 sts, hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc next 7 sts, hdc dec last 2 sts, fasten off. (9 sts not counting sl sts)

TOE: (make 2)
ROW 1: With Celery yarn and H hook join in end of row 38 of stocking, ch-1, 2 hdc sa row as beg ch-1, evenly work 14 hdc over next 11 rows, hdc dec next 2 rows tog, leave remaining rows unworked, ch-1, turn. (17 sts)
ROW 2: Sl st 1st st, hdc ea st across, to last st, 2 hdc last st, ch-1, turn. (17 sts)
ROW 3-5: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.
ROW 6-10: Hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn. (16 sts)(15 sts)(14 sts)(13 sts)(12 sts)
ROW 11-12: Hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc ea st to last 2 sts, hdc dec last 2 sts, ch-1, turn. End row 12 fasten off. (10 sts)(8 sts)

STOCKING OUTER EDGING:

ROW 1: With both sides of the stocking tog, scarlet yarn and H hook, join in side of row 1 through both thickness’, ch-1, evenly sc around the outer edge of the sticking working through both thickness’, ch-3, turn.
ROW 2: 4 dc in sa st as previous ch-3, (sk 2 sts, sc next st, sk 2 sts, 5 dc next st) across ending: sk 2 sts, sc next st, sk 2 sts, (4 dc, ch-3, sl st) next st, fasten off.

STOCKING INNER EDGING:
RND 1: With scarlet yarn and H hook join in any st on inside (top) edge of stocking, ch-1, sc sa st as beg ch-1, evenly sc ea st around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.
ROW 2 (HANGING TAB): Sc next 3 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, ch-1, turn. (3 sts)
ROW 3-12: Sc ea st across, ch-1, turn. End row 12 fasten off.
Sew row 12 row 2 to complete hanging tab.

POCKET (3-1\2” x 4-1\2”):
(make 2 and sew to front of stocking)
ROW 1: With scarlet yarn and H hook ch-16, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (14 sts)
ROW 2-10: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn. End row 10 fasten off.

SWIRLS:
Ch-20 with yarn and H hook, fasten off.
Make 3 in celery and 3 in scarlet. With needle and thread sew to stocking curling the ch length as you sew.
