Baby Shells and Ribbon Tissue Box Cover

This crochet tissue box cover pattern features interconnected shell rows in pink, baby blue, and white. The baby shells and ribbon tissue box cover, along with matching afghan, are great gifts for a new baby!

Baby Shells and Ribbon Tissue Box Cover

Materials:

  • l skein each White, Lily Pink and Pale Blue Red Heart 4-ply yarn
  • F, G and H crochet hooks or size needed for guage
  • Tapestry Needle
  • 1 yd. each pink and blue 1/8” wide nylon ribbon
  • Boutique Tissue Box

Instructions:

GUAGE: With G hook – 2 rows = 1 ½” Shell, sc, Shell, sc = 3 ½”

STITCHES USED: Chain (ch), Single Crochet (sc), Double Crochet (dc), Slip Stitch (sl st)
Special Stitch: Shell – 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc

COVER SIDE:

  1. Rnd 1 – With blue and G hook ch 66 and form a ring, ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same st, *skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, skip 2 ch, work Shell in next ch, rep from * around, join to top of beg ch 3, fasten off and turn. (11 Shells and 11 sc)
     
  2. Rnd 2 – Join pink with a sl st in first sc, ch 2, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sp, *sc in next ch 2 sp, Shell in next sc, rep from * around, join to top of beg ch 2, fasten off and turn.
     
  3. Rnds 3 and 6 – With white rep Rnd 2, fasten off and turn.
     
  4. Rnds 4 and 7 – With blue rep Rnd 2, fasten off and turn.
     
  5. Rnds 5 and 8 – With pink rep Rnd 2, fasten off and turn.
     
  6. Rnd 9 – With white rep Rnd 2, fasten off and do not turn.

 

 TOP:

  1. Rnd 1 – With white and F hook ch 24 and form a ring, ch 3, (dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in same st, ch 1, *skip 2 ch, 3 dc in next ch, ch 1, skip 2 ch (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch, ch 1, rep from * around to form a square, join to top of beg ch 3, fasten off and do not turn.
     
  2. Rnd 2 – Join pink with a sl st in ch 3 sp, ch 2, (dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in same sp, ch 1, *3 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch 3 sp, ch 1, rep from * around, join to top of beg ch 2, fasten off and do not turn.
     
  3. Rnd 3 – Join blue, rep Rnd 2 including 1 more 3 dc cluster on each side and fasten off.

TOP EDGING AND JOINING:

  1. Rnd 1 – With G hook join white with a sl st in any sc of cover side and in middle of ch 3 corner sp of top (this is the joining), ch 2, (dc, ch 2, dc) in same sp, sc in ch of ch 2 sp of Shell from cover and in ch 1 of top, continue the sc and Shell joining pattern as established around the entire top, join to top of beg ch 2.
     
  2. Rnd 2 – With H hook sl st into corner ch 2 sp, sc in same sp, rep Rnd 2 of cover side to finish edging, join to beg sc and fasten off.


FINISHING: Attach 1 ribbon on each side (2 pink and 2 blue) and form a bow as shown.
