I learned to crochet last week and I made three little girls purses. they were "off the top of my head" in otherowords, I don;t know yet about patterns,. so, I'm reading the comments and I see a couple of difficulties some were having. however, I didn't see the answers.....I would think the answers would be beneficial to everyone. I'm guessing you answer on their email..?? my friend will help me but, it would be so easy to pull up this page and read the answers when we run into a situation right at that very moment so we could continue at that time, rather than waiting to find it on our email....sorry for whining, I'm just so excited, I'm beside myself and crocheting constantly.....(we're retired and hubby is off fishing... you understand:):) thanks samm

Showing the diagram is great. Many years ago when we were stationed in Japan, I wanted to learn how to crochet. I bought some Japanese crochet books. They were in Japanese (of course) but they also had diagrams for each project. After figuring out what they were, it was easy.

I was wondering if you all checked your gauge and made a gauge swatch before making the hat. That usually lets you know that you need to adjust yarn or needle size to get the correct size.
