You never said how old is this boy's hat for? I wanted to make it for a 5 year old?

I made this hat today and it turned out really nice. I did increase some on the last few rows of the hat so it had a turned up brim. I also added a pom pom on top and it looks really cute. I am working on a Santa version of this one!

nice! We'd love to see a pic on our facebook page!

Hi gabrahams 4964238, The color change is noted as "with color A" or "with color B" and the change starts at round 17 and goes from there. Hope that helps! -Editors of FaveCrafts

the pattern never indicates when to change colors - is this just personal choice?

I tried this pattern last night and for some reason it didn't work out right. The hat just kept getting bigger and bigger it was like a huge round scarf. Please check the pattern and see if there is any corrections to do.I love the hat and want to make for a friends little boy.
