Winter Snowman Dishcloth

Snowmen are great for decorating because you can have them out all winter long!  This simple crochet dishcloth from Lily Sugar n' Cream is a great way to add a festive touch to your kitchen.  Christmas crochet patterns like this also make great gifts for loved ones!  Embellish this cute snowman with the name of your family for a personalized gift that will make everyone smile.  These crocheted snowmen dishcloths are also great to have in the bathroom.

Winter Snowman Dishcloth

Materials: 

  • 1 ball Lily Sugar n' Cream Solids in White (MC)
  • 1 ball Lily Sugar n' Cream Solids in Black (A)
  • 1 ball Lily Sugar n' Cream Solids in Red (B)
  • Size 5 mm (US H or 8) crochet hook


Gauge: 13 dc and 6 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].

 

Instructions: 

  1. With MC, ch 16.
     
  2. 1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 15 sc.
     
  3. 2nd row: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. Turn. 17 sc.
     
  4. Rep last row 4 times more. 25 sc at end of last row.
     
  5. Next 2 rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc across. Turn.
     
  6. Next row: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. Turn.
     
  7. Rep last 3 rows twice more. 31 sc at end of last row.
     
  8. Next 5 rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc across. Turn.
     
  9. Next row: Ch 1. Draw up a loop in each of next 2 sc. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook - sc2tog made. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. Sc2tog over last 2 sc. Turn.
     
  10. Next 2 rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each st across. Turn. Rep last 3 rows twice more. 25 sc at end of last row. Turn.
     
  11. Next row: Ch 1. Sc2tog over first 2 sc. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. Sc2tog over last 2 sc. Turn. Rep last row twice more. 19 sts at end of last row.
     
  12. Next row: Sl st in each of first 5 sts. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. 1 sc in each sc to last 4 sts. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked. 11 sc rem.

 

Head

  1. 1st to 3rd rows: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. Turn. 17 sc at end of 3rd row.
     
  2. 4th to 10th rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc across. Turn.
     
  3. 11th row: Ch 1. Sc2tog over first 2 sc. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. Sc2tog over last 2 sc. Turn.
     
  4. 12th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each st across. Turn. Rep last 2 rows 3 times more. 9 sc. Do not fasten off.
     
  5. Edging: Ch 1. Work 1 rnd of sc around outer edge of Snowman. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

 

Eyes (make 2)

  1. With A, ch 2.
     
  2. 1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

 

Buttons (make 2)

  1. With B, ch 2.
     
  2. 1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc.
     
  3. 2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

 

Finishing

  1. Sew Eyes and Buttons to Snowman as shown in picture. Divide plys of A into 2 ply (half thickness). With 2 plys of A, embroider arms. With A embroider mouth using French Knots.
