Scalloped Bubblegum Baby Dress

This Scalloped Bubblegum Baby Dress would make a wonderful gift for a little girl.  Made with bright pink yarn, this cute crocheted dress is a must have for princesses in training.  This dress is great for beginners and is a nice simple project for those who are more advanced.  You can make this dress in a variety of colors and sizes so the new little girl in your life will always have a fun and colorful outfit to wear.  An assortment of these dresses would also make a great gift for a new baby...and since you made them yourself, they're sure to be treasured and cherished for years to come.

Scalloped Baby Dress

Materials:

  • 50g pink yarn (finger weight 22 WPI) (MC)
  • 50g white yarn (CA)
  • 2.25 mm crochet hook

 

Gauge:  8 dc = 1”

 

Measurement:

  • Fits 0-6 month old baby girl
  • Chest measurment = 8.5"
  • Skirt = 7" long

 

Abbreviations:

  • (MC) = main color
  • (CA) = color A
  • ch = chain
  • dc = double crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • fpdc = front post double crochet
  • sk = skip
  • corner st (dc)= 2 dc ch 3, 2 dc in same stcorner st (hdc)= 2 hdc ch 3, 2 hdc in same st

 

Instructions:

  1. ch 97
     
  2. Row 1: (MC) dc in 4th ch from hook (count as dc),  dc in each of next ch 9, corner st (dc) in next ch, dc in each of next ch 24, corner st  (dc) in next ch, dc in each of next ch 22, corner st (dc) in next ch, dc in each of next ch 24, corner st (dc) in next ch, dc in each of next ch 11.   1. Edging  (CA)

  1. Join with ch 2, *[ hdc in ch-2 space, hdc in each of next 3 dc] 3 times, 2 hdc in next ch-2 space, 2 hdc in next  ch-2 space * repeat across, sl st to ch 2. Fasten off

Arms edging (MC)

  1. (WS) Join the yarn middle of the 3 sc of 11 row, ch 3, sl st to 9th of row space, *ch 3, sl st to next ch-2 space* repeat around the arm.

Neck Trim

  1. (CA) Join yarn with sc at bottom of back opening (RS) of row 13, work sc around. 3 sc into the corner st. fasten off.

Strap

  1. (MC) ch 4, 10 dc in 4th ch from hook, sl st to same 1st dc, ch 60, join with sl st to middle st of 3 sc corner (back side) of the dress, *ch 3, sk 2 st,  st to next st*repeat across. When you came to corner st on the other side sl st to middle st of 3 sc corner, ch 66, 10 dc in 4th ch from hook, sl st to ch 3, fasten off.
