Precious Crocheted Baby Booties

Little toes need lots of warmth, and babies of all ages are sure to love these Precious Crocheted Baby Booties.  Great for little ladies, these crocheted baby booties are simple enough for a beginner to make in a couple hours.  Once you get the hang of crocheting these sweet baby booties, you'll be able to make them in a wide spectrum of colors.  Soft pinks, blues, greens, and yellows are great for making crocheted baby projects, and a collection of crocheted baby booties makes a great gift for expecting parents-to-be!

Precious Crocheted Baby Booties

Materials:

  • 3 mm crochet hook
  • Sport yarn weight (13 WPI) - pink color 25 g, small amount of white color

Finished size heel to toe 3.5''
Gauge:  20 dc x 7.5 rows = 4”


Abbreviations:
RS = Right side
WS = Wrong side
yo = yarn over
ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
sk = skip
st = stitch
dc = double stitch
beg  = beginning

 

Instructions:

Motif (make 2):
ch 4 with white, sl st to first ch, made a ring, ch 3, 14 dc in ring, sl st to beg ch 3, fasten off.

Booties (make 2):

Sole
ch 13 with pink
Round 1: (RS) dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each of next ch 8, 8 dc in last st, working in opposite side, dc in each of next 8 sts, 6 dc in last st, sl st to beg ch 3. (32 st with ch 3)
Round 2: ch 3 (count as dc), dc in same st, 2 dc in next st, dc in 8 sts, 2 dc in next 8 sts, dc in 8 sts, 2 dc in next 6 sts, sl st to beg ch 3. (48 sts)
Round 3: ch 3 (count as dc), dc in each around, sl st to beg ch 3. (48 sts)

Attach the motif (work going in rows)
Row 4: turn the work WS, Now we are going to work from last st of previous row. Get one motif and hold it outside (RS) near to last st of the previous round to attach the motif.
(WS) ch 1, insert the hook in last st of previous row and in any st of the motif. Yarn over, pull back the yarn through the 2 sts and loop on hook at once, [ch 1, insert the hook in next 2 sts of the bootie and the motif, yo, pull back through the 2 sts and loop on hook at once] 7 times.

Sides of booties
ch 2, turn the work RS,
Working bootie sides
(RS) sk next st of the motif and sl st to the next, turn the work again
(WS) working forward, dc in next st of the bootie, dc in each of next 39 sts, sk next st of the motif and sl st to the next. (40 dc stitches)
Row 5: ch 2, sk next st of the motif and sl st to the next, turn the work
 (RS) dc in last st of previous row, working forward, dc in each of next 18 sts, [dc2tog] 2 times, dc in each of next 18 sts, sk next st of the motif and sl st to the next. (38 dc stitches)

2 rows to finish instep
Round 6: ch 3, turn, sk last 2 dc of previous you just crocheted and sl st to next (3rd st from last st of previous row 5), turn, dc in motif st you sl st earlier in previous row 5, 2 dc in next st of the motif you sl st earlier in previous row 5, sk first two dc of side of bootie and sl st to the next (3rd st of previous row 5)
Row 7: ch 3, sk next 2 dc of side of bootie sl st to next, turn, dc in next 3 st you just crocheted. sk 2 dc of the side of bootie and sl st to next. Fasten off and weave the end.

Strap
ch 4 with white, 4 dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 3, sl st to same ch, ch 40, do not fasten off, keeping the loop on hook, yo, insert the hook through next st of you fastened off last in the bootie. Make a dc stitch,  dc in next 26 sts, ch 44, 4 dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 3, sl st to same ch, fasten off.

Notes:

  • The pattern has 6 parts to crochet.
     
  • First crochet 2 motifs and keep it aside. Then you want to crochet sole of the bootie, attach the motif to the sole, crochet sides of the bootie after attaching the motif and crochet 2 rows to finish instep. Finally, half of dc stitches round with 2 straps.

Definitely some directions missing... Directions don't match up to the stitches... Go from 48 stitches and lose five without them being accounted for and same for the next step. Hope the designer updates this soon as it's a cute bootie!

I don't understand how to attach the motif to the bootie. I need help on rnd 4.

Hi Erangi for Crochet for You, I have no choice but to agree with Member 6906129. There is some instructions missing with this pattern. Also, starting Rnd 4 and on was downhill for me. Sadly, I was not able to finish this project. :( Maybe, if you read the instructions you can probably see where we were not able to understand it. Thank you anyway, Mary

This is a very confusing pattern. Under bootie, it says chain 10, then next it says Chain 3. I wish there was a video tutorial because someone obviously missed some steps in this pattern
