Three Colored Cloche

Keep warm during the cold winter months with this Three Colored Cloche.  This textured and colorful hat is great for men and women alike, and it's a simple pattern that you may find yourself making over and over again.  Mix and match your favorite colors and create a hat that's totally and completely you.  Really crafty crocheters could create one heck of a stashbuster hat by combining all those yarn scraps into this fun Cloche hat.  Beginners and advanced crocheters alike will have a sense of accomplishment after completing this fun and easy pattern.

Three Colored Cloche

Materials:

  • 1 skein Caron International's Simply Soft yarn in Black (MC)
  • 1 skein Caron International's Simply Soft yarn in Autumn Red (A)
  • 1 skein Caron International's Simply Soft yarn in Grey Heather (B)
  • H/8 (5 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Yarn needle

 

Gauge:  6 clusters and 6 1/2 rows = 4”/10cm in pat.

 

Special Abbreviation:

  • Cluster = (yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) 3 times in next sp, yo and draw though all loops on hook.

 

Instructions:

  1. Beg at crown, with MC, ch 4; join with sl st to first ch to form a ring.
     
  2. Rnd 1: Ch 3, (yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice in ring, yo and draw though all loops on hook – beg cluster made, (ch 1, cluster in ring) 7 times, ch 1; join A with sl st to top of first cluster – 8 clusters.
     
  3. Rnd 2: With A, sl st in next ch-1 sp, (beg cluster, ch 1, cluster) in same sp, ch 1, *(cluster, ch 1) twice in next ch-1 sp; rep from * around; join MC with sl st to top of first cluster – 16 clusters.
     
  4. Rnd 3: With MC, sl st in next ch-1 sp, beg cluster in same sp, ch 1, *(cluster, ch 1) twice in next ch-1 sp, cluster in next ch-1 sp, ch 1; rep from * 6 times more, (cluster, ch 1) twice in last ch-1 sp; join A with sl st to top of first cluster – 24 clusters.
     
  5. Rnd 4: With A, sl st in next ch-1 sp, beg cluster in same sp, ch 1, *cluster in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, (cluster, ch 1) twice in next ch-1 sp, cluster in next ch-1 sp, ch 1; rep from * 6 times more, cluster in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, (cluster, ch 1) twice in last ch-1 sp; join MC with sl st to top of first cluster – 32 clusters.
     
  6. Rnd 5: With MC, sl st in next ch-1 sp, beg cluster in same sp, ch 1, *cluster in next ch-1 sp, ch 1; rep from * around; join A with sl st to top of first cluster.
     
  7. Rnd 6: With A, as Rnd 5; join MC with sl st to top of first cluster.
     
  8. Rnds 7 and 8: As Rnds 5 and 6 once.
     
  9. Rnd 9: As Rnd 5; join B with sl st to top of first cluster.
     
  10. Rnd 10: With B, as Rnd 5; join MC with sl st top of first cluster.
     
  11. Rnd 11: As Rnd 9.
     
  12. Rnd 12: With B, sl st in next ch-1 sp, beg cluster in same sp, ch 1, *(cluster in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) 6 times, (cluster, ch 1) twice in next ch-1 sp**, cluster in next ch-1 sp, ch 1; rep from * twice more, then rep from * to ** once; join MC with sl st to top of first cluster – 36 clusters.
     
  13. Rnd 13: With MC, sl st in next ch-1 sp, beg cluster in same sp, ch 1, *(cluster in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) twice, (cluster, ch 1) twice in next ch-1 sp**, (cluster in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) 6 times; rep from * twice more, then rep from * to ** once, (cluster in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) 5 times; join B with sl st to top of first cluster – 40 clusters.
     
  14. Rnd 14: With B, sl st in next ch-1 sp, beg cluster in same sp, ch 1, *cluster in next ch-1 sp, ch 1; rep from * around; join with sl st to top of first cluster. Fasten off.
