Holiday Hats

Crochet a red or green hat with white stripes to wear around the holidays or anytime. These quick and easy crochet hat patterns are great for gift exchanges.

Materials:

• Yarn: RED HEART® “Holiday”: 1 ball each 9040 Red/Silver or 6040 Green/Silver A and 1040 White/Silver B
• Crochet hook: 5mm [I-9] crochet hook
• Yarn needle

Size: 14 (16, 18, 20)”.

GAUGE: 12 dc = 4”; 8 rounds = 4”

Note: Ch 3 counts as dc throughout.

Texture Stripe Stitch: Ch 1, sc in same st, *tr in next st, sc in next st; repeat from * around, omitting last sc.

Instructions:

Round 1:With A ch 4, 11 dc in 4th ch from hook, join with slip st to top of ch – 12 dc.
Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, [2 dc] in each st around, join with a slip st in first st – 24 dc.
Round 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around, join with a slip st in first st – 36 dc.
Work for 0 (1, 0, 1) round.

Child Sizes Only
Next Round: Ch 3, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 5 (2) sts; repeat from * around, omitting last dc, join with a slip st to first st – 42 (48) sts.
Work in dc for 5 (6) rounds.
Change to B and work in Texture Stripe Stitch.
Change to A and work 1 round in dc.
Fasten off.

Adult Size S/M Only
Next Round: Ch 3, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 5 sts; repeat from * around, omitting last dc, join with a slip st to first st – 42 sts.
Next Round: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next 2 dc, *2 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc; repeat from * around to last 4 sts, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc, join with a slip st to first st – 54 sts.

Adult Size M/L Only
Next Round: Ch 3, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts; repeat from * around, omitting last dc, join with a slip st to first st – 48 sts.
Next Round: Ch 3, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts; repeat from * around, omitting last 2 dc – 60 sts.

Both Adult Sizes
Work in dc for 6 rounds.
[Change to B and work in Texture Stripe Stitch. Change to A and work 1 round in dc] twice.
Fasten off.
