By:

This ear warmer crochet pattern from Lion Brand Yarn is quite possibly the coziest one ever! Make these warm and fuzzy poofs to protect your ears in the frigid cold--you'll have the coziest ear muffs ever!

Coziest Ear Muffs

Materials:

  • 5400-506 Martha Stewart Crafts Extra Soft Wool Blend: Igloo
  • 5800-506 Martha Stewart Crafts Glitter Eyelash: Blue Topaz
  • Lion Brand Crochet Hook - Size F-5 (3.75 mm)
  • Lion Brand Split Ring Stitch Markers
  • Large-Eye Blunt Needles (Set of 6)
  • Purchased headband, about 1/2 in. (1.5 cm) wide
  • Small amount of fiberfill stuffing
  • 2 small pieces of felt, same width as headband
  • Craft glue

Gauge:

14 sc + 18 rnds = 4 in. (10 cm).
EXACT GAUGE IS NOT ESSENTIAL FOR THIS PROJECT.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Notes:

  1. To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete st.
  2. Earmuffs are worked in continuous rnds; do not join and do not turn at beg of rnds. A marker is used to indicate the beg of rnd. Move marker up as each rnd is completed.

Instructions:

EARMUFFS
Band
Cut 2 pieces of felt 1 1/2 in. (4 cm) long and the width of the headband.
Apply a small amount of glue to one end of headband. Fold felt in half lengthwise and glue to end of headband; allow to dry. Rep on other end of headband.
Tie A around one end of headband, at mid point of felt tip. Apply a small amount of glue to secure end of A. Wrap yarn around headband, placing wraps very closely together. Continue wrapping until entire headband and about half of felt on opposite end have been wrapped. Glue end of A to headband. Trim ends.
