Colors of the Night Ear Warmer

By: The Double Stitch Twins for Red Heart Yarn

Keep your ears warm on those late winter walks with this Colors of the Night Ear Warmer from Red Heart Yarn.  Made with two different yarns, this crocheted headband has a unique shiny metallic look...and the colors are beautiful for fall and winter.  This headband can be crocheted quickly and is great for beginners.

Colors of the Night Ear Warmer

Materials:

  • RED HEART® Boutique™ Magical™: 1 Ball each 1101 Crystal Ball A and 1406 Hocus Pocus B
  • Crochet Hook: 6.5mm [US K-10½]
  • Yarn needle

GAUGE: 12 dc = 4”; 6 rows = 4” with 1 strand of A and B held together. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

Instructions:

  1. With 1 strand of A and B held together, ch 12.
     
  2. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and each ch across – 10 dc.
     
  3. Rows 2-26: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), turn, dc in each dc across – 10 dc.
     
  4. Fasten off.


FINSHING:

  1. Top Row (Right Side): With 1 strand of A and B held together, ch 28, slip st in 6th st on last row of Headband, sc in each st across to first corner, ch 1, turn to work along long edge, sc evenly spaced to opposite short edge, ch 1, turn to work along short edge and sc in each st to 6th st, ch 28.
     
  2. Fasten off.
     
  3. Bottom Row (Wrong Side): With 1 strand of A and B held together, join yarn in same st as first st of Top Row, ch 1, sc in each unworked st of short end to first corner, ch 1, turn to work along opposite long edge of Headband, sc evenly spaced along long edge to opposite short edge, ch 1, turn to work along short edge, sc in each unworked st to center st, slip st in center st.
     
  4. Fasten off.
     
  5. Weave in ends.
